War Games

The work War Game is inspired by the same named virtual programme implemented by the Pentagon in 2009, the year in which the problem regarding resources emerged with greater clarity. It is a set of simulations carried out by the American army to prepare themselves for intervention in possible new scenarios, such as those resulting from climatic upheaval. In fact, the programme considers “the climate as one of the threats to American national security. [...] Cyclones and drought can cause pandemics and famine that result in mass migration, millions of people in flight, fighting for elementary resources such as food and water, which suddenly become dramaticallymovements and different kinds of extremists would thrive on, tragedies that would fuel violent nationalism and religious wars. The artist transliterated these American “war games” into a transparent Plexiglas box made up of a vertical sequence of five parallelepiped, separated by the same number of skies that correspond to the different continents in which toy soldiers, tanks, and helicopters are engaged in a future war.
